TBB Power 60A DM 12V DC to 12V DC battery-to-battery charger
TBB Power 60A DC to DC battery charger for fast charging of a 12V battery / battery bank from another 12V battery / battery bank with its own energy source.
The TBB-DM1260 is a highly efficient in-vehicle DC-DC charger specifically designed for on-board applications such as RVs, marine vessels, utility vehicles, and trucks. This unit ensures optimal charging for leisure batteries, even in vehicles equipped with Euro-6 engines and smart alternators, which have variable voltage output.
Key Features
- High efficiency: Non-isolated design with a maximum efficiency of 96%, ensuring minimal energy loss.
- Euro-6 engine compatibility: Capable of properly and fully charging leisure batteries with a wide variable voltage output from the engine.
- Advanced charging algorithm: Utilises TBB Premium II multi-stage charging algorithm for optimal battery charging performance.
- Supports multiple battery types: Compatible with Gel, AGM, Lead-acid, and Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries.
- Built-in temperature compensation: Automatically adjusts charging voltage based on battery temperature to prevent overcharging or undercharging.
- Plug-and-play installation: Designed for quick and easy installation with minimal setup required.
- Passive cooling: Naturally cooled without the need for a fan, ensuring silent operation and enhanced reliability.
- RS485 communication support: Enables integration into monitoring and control systems for advanced functionality.
- Comprehensive protection: Features safeguards against input/output over-voltage, output over-current, short circuit, internal over-temperature, and battery temperature extremes.
- Back-charging function: Allows power to flow from the target battery to the source battery (0-3A), preventing engine startup failure due to a drained source battery ( only works with D+ connection ).
Automatic alternator detection
When both the alternator and auxiliary battery are properly connected, the DM1260 automatically detects whether the engine is running—either through the D+ signal or by sensing alternator output voltage. Based on this, it intelligently decides whether to begin charging the auxiliary battery and power the DC load from the alternator, or to power the DC load from the auxiliary battery.
Efficient and adaptive charging
The DM1260 DC-DC charger optimizes battery charging using the TBB Premium II algorithm. This microprocessor-controlled system adjusts the absorption charging timer based on battery discharge state, ensuring efficient and complete charging. The float charging feature also maintains the battery's health over extended periods of connection.
Temperature compensation for optimal charging
Battery temperature significantly impacts charging performance. The included Battery Temperature Sensor (BTS) measures real-time temperature and adjusts the charging voltage accordingly. The default compensation rate is –3mV/°C/cell, ensuring batteries are charged under optimal conditions. If the BTS is not connected, the charger defaults to 25°C settings.
Smart power management
The DM1260 actively monitors its internal temperature and dynamically adjusts output power to prevent overheating. As the temperature rises, the charger will de-rate its output power to maintain safe operating conditions, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
With its combination of high efficiency, intelligent charging, and robust protection features, the TBB-DM1260 DC-DC charger is an ideal solution for ensuring reliable battery charging in a wide range of vehicle and marine applications.
